Learners at Elementary 2 level (A2) can accurately express their own ideas and participate in an exchange of information within a range of familiar, everyday topics. This book series is based on the philosophy of "Japanese for mutual understanding." Each topic features situations in which people from a variety of cultural backgrounds are interacting in Japanese. Throughout the book are hints about cross-cultural understanding, such as in dialog content, photos, and illustrations. Marugoto also places importance on audio input for language learning, setting up many classroom activities for listening to natural conversation. This book is composed of two volumes, Katsudoo and Rikai. Elementary 2 Rikai continues the Marugoto series with a focus on the structures underlying the Japanese language, including characters, vocabulary, grammar, and sentence patterns.
